Scouting America – Troop 44, Edison, NJ
Life Scout, Senior Patrol Leader, Eagle Scout Candidate (2021–Present)
Scouting has been one of the longest and most defining leadership experiences of my high school years. As the elected Senior Patrol Leader of a 30+ member troop, I lead weekly meetings, camping trips, and service projects while coordinating closely with our adult leaders. I run patrol leaders’ council meetings, plan the yearly camping and activity calendar (including fundraisers and camporees), and mentor younger scouts toward rank advancement. I earned this role after steadily working my way up from entry-level scout through positions like Webmaster, Patrol Leader, Historian, and Scribe, which taught me how to communicate clearly, manage logistics, and build trust within a team.
I currently hold the rank of Life Scout and am on track to complete my Eagle Scout requirements by December 2025. For my Eagle project, I am leading the design and construction of Eastern Bluebird nesting houses at the Ernie Oros Wildlife Preserve, helping support local conservation and biodiversity. Over 50+ nights of camping and 140+ hours of service, I’ve developed a strong sense of environmental stewardship and a commitment to serving my community. I was also honored to be inducted into the Order of the Arrow, Scouting’s National Honor Society, in recognition of my service, character, and leadership within the troop.

Eagle Scout Service Project – Eastern Bluebird Habitat Restoration
Ernie Oros Wildlife Preserve, Woodbridge, NJ
For my Eagle Scout Service Project, I partnered with the Woodbridge Parks Department to design, build, and install Eastern Bluebird nesting boxes at the Ernie Oros Wildlife Preserve, a wetland and meadow ecosystem in Woodbridge, NJ. Bluebirds in New Jersey have faced significant population decline due to habitat loss and competition from invasive species, and natural nesting cavities are rare in public parks. My project addressed this need by creating safe, elevated nesting sites that support native bird populations, natural insect control, and hands-on environmental education for visitors and local schools.
I led the full project lifecycle—from initial site survey and meetings with the park’s representative to design, budgeting, safety planning, and construction. After researching best-practice bluebird house designs, I finalized dimensions and materials for durability, drainage, and predator protection, then created a detailed materials list and work plan. I organized multiple work sessions, trained younger scouts on tool safety, supervised the construction of each box, and coordinated the transportation of all materials and finished houses.
At the preserve, I directed teams in installing the birdhouses on poles or suitable existing structures, ensuring proper spacing, orientation, and stability. I completed final quality checks on each installation to confirm safety and long-term resilience, delivering a low-maintenance conservation feature that aligns with the preserve’s mission of protecting biodiversity and engaging the community in stewardship.
Project Impact
- 8 bluebird nesting boxes designed, built, and installed in prime habitat areas within the preserve
- ~25 youth and adult volunteers recruited from my troop, school, and community
- 100+ combined service hours contributed from planning through final installation
- Zero ongoing maintenance burden for park staff due to durable design and careful placement
Long-term ecological and educational value by supporting native species and creating a visible conservation feature for visitors and local schools
